Aer Arann Retains Galway PSO Air Routes

Following an EU Public Tender Process, the Minister for Transport Noel Dempsey T.D. announced yesterday, that contracts for the next three years to provide scheduled air services on the six Public Service Obligation (PSO) regional air routes have been offered to three airlines – Aer Arann, Cityjet and Ryanair.
Minister Dempsey said; “The PSO air services help support essential air access to the regions thereby facilitating the achievement of Government objectives for balanced regional development. In particular they provide direct and convenient access to worldwide aviation networks via the international gateway at Dublin airport”.
Joe Walsh, Managing Director, Galway Airport in welcoming the Minister’s announcement yesterday said: “on behalf of the team at Galway Airport, we are delighted and congratulate Aer Arann on their success in retaining the Galway – Dublin route. This announcement further underpins the Government’s support for and development of regional airports like Galway airport and we look forward to continuing to build on our route network and access to connectivity via our hub destinations”.
Aer Arann welcomed the announcement by the Minister for Transport that they have been awarded four of the six routes on offer in the PSO tender. The airline has won Derry – Dublin for the first time and it retains Galway – Dublin, Sligo-Dublin and Donegal-Dublin.
The retention of the Galway – Dublin service clearly reflects the success of Aer Arann has had in growing and developing this key access route for the Galway region.

We look forward to bringing the Aer Arann customer experience to this new route and to continuing to serve our valued customers on the Galway, Donegal and Sligo routes”
Aer Arann will continue to provide its four daily return services on the Galway – Dublin route.

We look forward to working with Aer Arann over the term of the renewed PSO”
Cityjet were awarded the Knock – Dublin route and Ryanair the Kerry – Dublin route.
