Airport Convenience

"After attending a one day meeting in London on Friday, I was just thinking how lucky we are to have an airport on our doorstep.

I have travelled Galway-Luton now on a regular basis for the past two years for both business and pleasure and I am always appreciative that I don't have to drive to Shannon or Knock or, worse, Dublin to get to the UK.

Now, Aer Arann is dearer than Ryanair, but if you book well ahead, there's not much in the difference when you consider how convenient it is.

That said, I would hate to see Aer Arann going down the Ryanair route and I noticed in Luton that the check-in staff were strict enough on baggage weight and the ‘one bag' rule through the security, though this might be airport policy and not necessarily the airline's policy.

The irony of the ‘one bag' rule is that once you get into the duty free area, you can buy as much as you like to carry on board.

But that aside, London is underestimated by us as a tourist destination and though accommodation and socialising isn't cheap, there is so much to do and see in the city, much of it free.

And the best thing is, no matter what time of year I visit, the weather is always much better than it is here at home."
