Galway Airport announces strategic Management appointments
09/01/2008Galway Airport is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr.Joe Walsh as Managing Director of Corrib Airport Ltd. T/A Galway Airport, together with the nomination of Mr.Peter Allen,President of the Galway Chamber of Commerce and Industry,Councillor Michael Carey,Galway County Council and Mr.Michael Coyle,Chief Executive Officer of Galway Chamber, to the Board of Galway Airport.
Joe Walsh joined Galway Airport in March 2007 as General Manager and shortly after taking up his position he was appointed as Executive Director to the Board of the airport in May 2007.
Commenting on this appointment Mr. Michael Corless,Chairman,Galway Airport said:
"The year 2007 was a major milestone year for Galway Airport as it celebrated its two millionth passenger and surpassed the 300,000 passengers per annum for the first time in its history.There is a strong vision for the future of Galway Airport and the form and shape of this vision will be defined during 2008.The airport continues to go from strength to strength thanks to the efforts of the Board,Management team,all staff,key stakeholders and its’ key service partners".
Michael Corless continued to state that "the role of Managing Director is a first for Galway Airport and it underpins the Board’s vision for the future growth and development of the airport as a strategically important transport resource for Galway City,County and the wider Western region.Joe has brought considerable expertise and experience after 17 years within the aviation industry,both at home and abroad,to the airport and is key to leading the team at the airport that will deliver the vision for the future.I wish Joe every success in his role as Managing Director and I and the Board look forward to working closely with Joe over the coming years".
