MANX2.COM POPS NEW CORK ROUTE INTO SCHEDULE

Manx2.com is set to add another flight to its Ireland schedule.

The Company, based in the Isle of Man, will launch a new direct link between Belfast City and Cork on Wednesday 8th September. From this date two return flights will operate every week day with a late flight on Sunday nights.

Manx2.com has announced the new direct route following news that Aer Arann is withdrawing from the route at the end of this month (August).

Chairman Noel Hayes said: "We are acutely aware of the need to maintain and improve connectivity in Ireland, particularly in difficult economic times. Last month we started services from Cork to Galway and Galway to Belfast and after a quiet start, these services are now growing strongly as our reputation for reliability and good customer service has become established in the local market.

"Our model is based on operating 19 seat aircraft at frequencies the larger operators cannot match. It also means we can profitably operate some thinner routes which won't work for bigger operators either due to their fleet size or changes in the market.

"We are delighted to announce we will be maintaining and enhancing air links between Cork and Belfast. With 14 flights per week we are improving connectivity between Ireland's second and third largest Cities and in turn we are hoping to stimulate commerce and tourism between North and South.

Cork Airport Aviation Marketing Manager Kevin Cullinane said: "Following the recent introduction of a weekend service between Cork and Galway with Manx2.com, we are very pleased to see a further commitment to Cork with today's announcement of a resumption of a double daily service between Cork and Belfast from Wednesday 8th September. This commitment comes during a difficult economic climate and the increased services to both Galway and Belfast show the importance of inter-city connectivity between the major cities on the island of Ireland."

Manx2.com employs 60 staff and has a fleet of seven aircraft providing up to 30 flights a day to the Isle of Man. Manx2.com is proud to be a small Isle of Man based company carrying 100,000 passengers a year between the Isle of Man and Blackpool, Belfast, Leeds Bradford, Newcastle, Gloucester and Jersey. It has recently been voted the Island's best small company for the second time in three years at the annual IOM Newspapers Excellence Awards.
