Clifden will celebrate the 90th Anniversary of this historic flight this June with a series of lectures, exhibitions and walks on the site of the landing together with a free airshow on Saturday, 13th June over Clifden Bay.

This weekend will celebrate one of the most significant early achievements in aviation and is a must for all aviation and history buffs and promises to be a great family day out. The Weekend will also honour the subsequent re-enactment flight of Steve Fossett & Mark Rebholz in 2005.

Come, share in the fun, live the history and enjoy a stay in one of the truly spectacular areas of the world, Connemara.  Take time out to visit to visit Clifden's fine restaurants, pubs and cafes. You'll find excellent food and drink and some great places to stay while you are there.

Connemara Air Show- CLIFDEN BEACH - 2pm
The climax of the weekend - the Connemara skies will open up with spectacular aeronautical displays over Clifden Bay. Featured acts will include the Air Corps Pilatus PC9s and the Casa 235, The Blades, Team Viper, Team Guinot and the replica Vickers Vimy. There will also be displays from Dave Bruton, Gerry Humphreys and Jimmy Griffin.

Helicopter rides with Executive Helicopters and the Army Ground Display will ensure a family fun filled day.

Entertainment on site will also be provided by the Air Corps Piper Band and The Western Brigade Army Brass Band.

Clifden has a wide variety of quality stores, clothes shops, art galleries, pottery and jewellery shops making it an excellent shopping experience.

If you're feeling energectic, there's hill walking, golf, freshwater and deep-sea fishing, beautiful beaches and historic sites all on the doorstep of the town.
