What's on in Galway

Galway Astronomy Club would just like to take this opportunity to invite anyone from Ireland & the UK to the 6th Galway Astronomy Festival taking place in Astronomy Capital of Ireland for 2009.

The event will open with a free talk at 7.30pm on Friday January 30th and restarts on Saturday January 31st at the 4* Westwood House Hotel just outside Galway City with registration from 09:00 - 09:50am and first speaker on stage at 10.00am.

This year the event is primarily aimed at the cutting edge of space science with talks by leading astronomers from Ireland and the UK.  Over the two days there will be:

• 9 speakers
• Trade Stands
• A special IYA Exhibition
• A Multi Prize Raffle
• Astrophotography Workshop
• A special Saturday evening Banquet
• A tour of the "state of the art" NUI Galway Observatory
