Traveling onwards from Edinburgh Airport, your options are the following:
1. Bus
A number of bus services are available from the Terminal forecourt outside the main entrance.

(i)
Airlink 100 departing from Stand 19 services Waverley Bridge (near Princes Street and main rail and bus stations) and Haymarket every 10 minutes.
Fare: Single £3.50, Return £6 (reductions for children)
(ii)
Nightbus N22 departing from Stand 19 services City Centre (Waverley Station) via South Gyle and onto Ocean Terminal in Leith every 30 minutes between 04.13 and 04.13 7 nights a week.
Fare: £3 flat fare (unlimited travel for one night)
(iii)
Service 35 departing from Stand 21 service the City Centre and on to Ocean Terminal with stops including RBS World Headquarters, Scottish Parliament and the Palace of Holyroodhous every 15 minutes (Mon to Saturday Daytime) every 30 minutes (Evenings and Sunday)
Fare:£1.20, day ticket £3 (reductions for children)
(iv)
Airdirect 747 departing from Stand 22 services Inverkeithing Rail Station and Ferrytoll Park & Ride (for connections to Megabus services) every 20 minutes (Monday to Saturday) and hourly on Sundays.
Fare: Single £4.50 single or day return; discounts for children and combined bus/train tickets
(v)
Services 555 and 777 (West Lothian) departing from Stand 22 services communities in West Lothian including Livingston, Broxburn, East Calder and Mid Calder every 20 minutes and hourly at the weekends

Services 64 departing from Stand 22 services communities in North Edinburgh including Cramond, Davidson's Mains, Muirhouse, Pilton and stopping at the Western General Hospital every hour

2. Taxi
There are separate taxi ranks for private airport taxis and for city "black cabs" outside the east (UK Arrivals) end of the terminal building.
A third rank is available for advance-booked taxis on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park, directly opposite the terminal.
A journey to the city centre typically takes about 25 minutes. Many taxis are wheelchair accessible.

3. Rail
There is no rail service between Edinburgh Airport and the city centre. The main rail stations in Edinburgh are Waverley and Haymarket. These can be reached by Taxi/Bus.

Glasgow, Aberdeen, Inverness and stations throughout Scotland.

Manchester Airport via the West Coast Main Line.
National Express East Coast
London Kings Cross via the East Coast Main Line.

Birmingham New Street via the West Coast Main Line
4. Long Distance Coaches Coach
Operators including National Express and Scottish Citylink run services to and from Edinburgh's main station in Elder Street.
Some services also call at Waverly Bridge (for connections to the Airlink 100 airport service). Additionally, some long-distance buses and coaches call at Ferrytoll Park and Ride.
